Care instructions
Always test an offcut or sample prior to working the leather with tools, adhesives or heat. To ensure the leather print on your product is as durable as possible, we’ve worked hard refining our printing process and craftsmanship. Repeated turning or working may affect the digital print, always test your processes on a sample first. As leather is a natural material you may notice small differences in surface and texture, as well as wrinkles, which is common to products made from natural leather. All leathers age naturally according to the usage, and this can cause the print to wrinkle or fade slightly over time. It is possible the base colour may show through the leather as it ages with wear. When not in use we recommend storing your product in a protective dust bag or box to keep your product looking its best. Avoid prolonged exposure to extreme heat, sunlight, water, and chemical cleaners to maintain a bright and long-lasting print. Avoid contact with light coloured fabrics or upholstery as the colour may transfer. Whilst a light rain shower is unlikely to harm, we recommend protecting from rain. Should your product get wet, allow to dry naturally away from direct heat. To clean surface wipe only with a damp lint free cotton cloth.

About Your Leather Bookmark Printing
Handmade with exquisite attention to detail, these custom leather bookmarks are a true work of art. Formed with 2 pieces of beautiful Nappa leather or leatherette and made by skilled artisans, this pack of 3 bookmarks, alternatively available as singles, will make a wonderful gift for yourself or any book lover. How Your Custom Leather Bookmarks Are Made
A skilled team of craftsmen and print technicians is entrusted with our custom bookmark printing. It starts with you uploading your designs onto the online interface. All custom leather bookmarks are made to order in the Contrado studio. Once your designs have been uploaded into the system, the technicians get straight to work. The printed leather is made first. Your designs are digitally printed onto the leather, which is then passed onto the cutting team. The bookmarks are carefully cut from the printed leather using a large cutting press. This piece is then bonded and hand stitched with a piece of coloured leather, which you would have chosen during the design process. The stitching around the edges of the bookmark adds a beautifully authentic touch. The process of creating custom leather bookmarks is a traditional craft which we are proud to continue.
The Nappa leather is sourced via Italian tanneries for printing and finishing in our own in-house atelier studio. This work is by hand and to order. As a full grain, bovine-calf leather, it is graded to the highest level for print and manufacturing quality.
Design Tips
When you design your own bookmark, it is important to consider the size and orientation of the product. They measure 5 x 18cm, making them relatively long and slim. However, bookmark printing is possible in portrait and landscape. The portrait orientation and size lends itself to bold patterns and typography. Use the design interface to ensure your artwork is positioned perfectly, without any important details lost to the edges. Landscape images can work nicely, when positioned correctly. What's the best resolution to print in?
We print at 200dpi, which is a good combination of quality and file weight. Ideally, your image should be scaled to 100% at 200dpi, this means that no resizing of your file occurs stopping any interpolation.
Should I save my file as a TIFF or JPEG?
For multi-coloured or very detailed files we recommend using a tiff format, but they must be flattened. For simple colours and low detail files, a jpeg is fine.
Which colour model should I choose? RGB or CMYK?
We advise providing images in the RGB colour space. Specifically using the sRGB image profile, to achieve best colour results.What does this mean? In your editing software choose RGB as the working space, and assign the image profile as sRGB (full name sRGB IEC61966-2.1)
What does GSM mean?
Grams per Square Meter (GSM) is an international standard for measuring the weight of paper or fabric. GSM uses the weight of a square meter (1000 x 1000mm) as an indication of the weight and thickness of a given fabric. We class 20-100gsm as light (summer fabrics, gauzes and fine silks), 101-249 gsm as medium (most clothing fabrics) and 250+ gsm as heavy (upholstery fabrics, and other specialist fabrics).
What are bleed areas?
When designing your product, it’s best to make sure that your image is slightly larger than needed. In printing, the extra printed image is referred to as a “Bleed Area” or margin, and it is removed from the finished piece. A bleed area acts as a buffer for slight inconsistencies in the manufacturing process. however, it’s important to fill your bleed areas completely, or you may end up with white, unprinted strips along the edge of your finished product.
Do you print on garments a customer supplies?
Unfortunately not. All our garments are printed on flat fabric and sewn into finished products, which gives a better-finished result and all-over print. We test meticulously so that we know what gets the best results on our fabrics, and our facilities cater perfectly to them. We do however print sublimation paper to order, so if you have access to a heat press you can press your fabrics or flat garments easily.
Can you Align a Pattern or design across panels of a garment?
We always strive for the greatest accuracy when printing and constructing your garments. However, due to unavoidable stretch or movement of the fabric during the stitching process, we cannot guarantee perfect pattern registration across garment seams. We are generally accurate within 2-3mm, which is close enough for most patterns but may show slight issues with detailed geometric patterns.
Can I print my own Labels?
Most of our garments now come with printable label space for you to add your own company information and branding. If you would like to sew in your own labels, we also offer Printed Fabric Labels here.
How is your fabric printing eco-friendly?
With environmental consciousness in mind, our fabrics are all printed using completely water-based inks. This means no chemicals or solvents are used. Our heat fixing procedure fixes the colours and prints, avoiding the downsides of steaming, such as excess or contaminated water returning into the waste system. We have one facility where we conduct all the printing, production and fulfilment.

Custom leather bookmarks are a speciality of ours. Bookmark printing is done by hand by talented seamstresses and craftsmen from your choice of real nappa smooth leather, real nappa textured leather, or a vegan warm leatherette.
Where can I print my designs on the custom leather bookmarks?
You can design the whole front of the custom printed bookmarks. Your art is printed onto the leather or faux leather, creating a stunning finish. The back of your bookmark can be made from the colour of your choice; black, ivory, red, blue, or pink.
Can I receive my bookmarks quickly?
